Start the connection. During setup, choose ‘Connect a health system’. Any time after that, click ‘Documents’ in the left sidebar, then ‘Add health system’.
The search starts in your state. Switch to ‘All of the US’ if you get care somewhere else.
Type the name of your hospital or clinic. If it doesn’t appear, look it up online to see which larger institution it may belong to, then search for that name. [Example: Wilmot Cancer Institute is part of University of Rochester Medicine, so you would search for University of Rochester.]
If several similar names appear, compare logos. Match the logo on your facility’s website to the one in the list.Select it, click ‘Sign in and add’, and sign in using your patient portal username and password.
Still not there?
Some facilities aren’t available to connect yet. Click ‘Can’t find it?’ at the bottom of the window and choose one of two options:
- Ask us to add it. Enter your facility’s name and city and click ‘Send’. We’ll email you and let you know if it is possible to add them at this time.
- Upload a document. Download your visit summaries, lab results, and notes from your patient portal, such as MyChart, and upload them to CureWise. Your AI navigator can read them and use them in your Cancer Story, though they won’t fill in the charted labs on your Health tab.
Yes. CureWise works with whatever information you provide. If you have uploaded health documents, your CureWise AI Navigator can read and discuss them with you and your Cancer Story will be generated from them. If you filled out the shared history questionnaire, CureWise will use your answers as the foundation for your experience. However, your lab results will not be populated until records are available through a direct health system connection.
If you are stuck on the connection step, email us at support@curewise.com and we will help you get connected.

Your medical history is what makes CureWise personalized to you. By sharing your records, CureWise can analyze your specific diagnosis, test results, and treatment history to answer questions specific to your diagnosis and help you have more meaningful conversations with your care team. Without your records, the platform can only offer general information.

- I clicked to connect my health system but nothing happened. What's wrong?Connecting your health system
This is almost always caused by a browser pop-up blocker. When you connect to a health system, CureWise opens a separate window where you sign in to your health system portal. If your browser is blocking pop-ups, that window never appears and the process stalls.
To fix it, allow pop-ups from CureWise in your browser settings. At minimum, allow app.curewise.com. Once you've done that, try connecting again and the window should open as expected.
If you're not sure how to allow pop-ups in your browser, search "allow pop-ups" along with the name of your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) for step-by-step instructions.
Yes. You can connect as many health systems as you need, and CureWise will sync each one separately and then combine everything into your complete cancer story. Many of our clients receive care across more than one hospital or specialist network, and the platform is designed to handle that.
One thing to keep in mind: each health system syncs individually, so if you connect several at once, they will each run their own sync. This is normal and nothing to worry about. Your primary health system will sync automatically every two weeks. It and any additional health systems can be refreshed manually from your Health Info settings whenever you want the latest records brought into CureWise.
It is completely fine to click Continue while the systems are syncing. Your health system will keep syncing in the background while you move through the rest of setup. You do not need to wait on this screen. Depending on your health system and the volume of records, the sync can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. You will be notified via email when the process is complete.
All three options bring your health information into CureWise so the platform can provide insights specific to your diagnosis. The difference is in how that information gets there and how current it stays.
Connecting your health system links CureWise directly to your hospital or clinic's portal through a secure service called Fasten Health. Once connected, CureWise retrieves documents from your primary health system every two weeks, including lab results, imaging reports, physician notes, and more. This keeps your information current without any extra steps on your part.
Uploading documents lets you add records manually, such as PDFs from a specialist, a second opinion, or a facility not yet supported through a direct connection. Uploaded documents are analyzed just like connected documents and become part of your complete picture in CureWise.
Filling out the history questionnaire lets you share your cancer history directly by answering guided questions about your diagnosis, stage, and treatment status. You can answer "Not sure" or skip fields you don't have answers to. This is a great starting point if you don't have documents ready yet.
You can use any combination of these options, and many clients do. The more complete your records, the more CureWise can do for you.
Yes. CureWise connects to thousands of U.S. healthcare organisations automatically. Whether your records are split across a local hospital, a specialist centre, and a university medical system, CureWise pulls them into one organised clinical summary. Knowing how to organise cancer medical records across multiple systems is a common challenge — CureWise handles it so you don't have to.
That is completely understandable. Just email us at support@curewise.com and we will schedule a call to do this step together. We are here to help you and never want you to feel stuck.
The connection process typically takes about 5 to 15 minutes, but in some cases it can take longer depending on your health system and the volume of records. If the connection is not complete after two hours, please reach out to us at support@curewise.com and we will troubleshoot the issue.
Yes. You can connect to as many health systems as needed. Many of our clients see specialists across multiple hospitals and health systems, and CureWise is designed to bring all of that information together in one place.
CureWise uses Fasten Health to connect to thousands of health systems across the US. When connecting, search by the name of your hospital, clinic, or health system, for example "Mayo Clinic" or "Indiana Hematology," not by the name of the portal or app you use to view your records (such as MyChart or FollowMyHealth). The same portal is used by many different facilities, so searching by facility name will get you to the right connection faster.
If your facility isn't showing up, reach out to us at support@curewise.com and we will look into it. Some smaller or specialty facilities use systems we don't yet connect to; if that's the case, you can still use CureWise by uploading your health documents directly.
Fasten Health is a secure, HIPAA-compliant service that connects directly to your health system to retrieve your medical records. CureWise uses Fasten so that your data is transferred safely and privately, without requiring you to manually upload documents. Fasten is a trusted platform - built for health data, and your credentials are never stored by CureWise. You also have the option to manually upload documents if you prefer.
